For the third year running, SICHREM has held a fundraising stall at the annual Fireflies music festival.
Our stall this year was manned by the fantastic husband and wife duo, Chitra (SICHREM’s fantastic executive secretary) and her husband, foodie Ranganathan, and Christie, our always-patient and cheerful driver (who proved to be a most excellent salesman but was not in many photos alas).
The SICHREM team: Christie, driver, Jyothi, Documentation and PR Officer, Nirmal, District Programme Coordinator, Chitra, Secretary and her husband, Ranganathan (who works outside of SICHREM).
Unfortunately, due to several logistical problems (shortages of power/water/gas held up the afternoon cooking and typical Bangalore traffic), our stall was set up a little late, around 9.30pm (the festival kicked off at 6pm). While this meant we had lost our prime location, our late arrival may have actually worked in our favour with punters immediately flocking to the fresh fish, chicken, pork curries and lime/tomato rice for sale!
Our SICHREM stall was the last stall to leave with cups of chai and coffee being gratefully bought by the tired audience, eager to head home to a sleepy Sunday.
A fantastic time was had by all and the stall raised 1500Rs for SICHREM. A big thank you to Chitra, Ranganathan and Christie for their hard work. SICHREM looks forward to next year’s Fireflies!

On 12/13 February, SICHREM staff and families came together for a weekend of friendship and relaxation with the common goals of improving team spirit and undertaking a SWOT analysis of SICHREM.
The SWOT analysis was expertly facilitated by Dr MK George, director of the Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. Dr George skilfully lead the team to ensure that this exercise would be a valuable exercise that would contribute a great deal to the management and performance of SICHREM.
Much laughter, jokes, singing and dancing were had over the two days and it is fair to say that the weekend was a complete success! Staff came away feeling united, re-invigorated and eager to face 2010’s challenges.
